The Kentucky horse industry, in the wake of the defeat of racetrack gaming legislation, is planning a rally at the Keeneland sale pavilion in Lexington at 6:30 p.m. EDT June 24.
Horse industry officials said Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear and Speaker of the House Greg Stumbo are expected to attend and speak to the group. Both pushed legislation to authorize video lottery terminals at the state’s racetracks; a Senate committee killed the measure June 22.
The Kentucky Thoroughbred Association said the rally will offer a chance to “share what information we have and where we go from here.”
