(Edited release)

Ben P. Walden Jr., president of Hurricane Hall near Lexington, has announced that the farm’s stallion operation will be relocated to his newly purchased 265-acre Pauls Mill near Versailles, Ky. Hurricane Hall was founded in 2006 and originally owned by Walden, Pat Madden, David Hanley, and Brad Kelley. Walden and Madden recently acquired 100% of the stallion company, with Kelley purchasing the 403 acres of land on which Hurricane Hall operates.

“Pat and I have been close friends since childhood and we are blessed to share deep family roots in the horse business,” Walden said. “I will stand the stallions at Pauls Mill and that’s where we will continue to grow our stallion interests.”

Stallions Artie Schiller   (El Prado--Hidden Light, by Majestic Light), Bellamy Road   (Concerto--Hurry Home Hillary, by Deputed Testamony), and Teuflesberg   (Johannesburg--St. Michele, by Devil’s Bag) will make the move in mid-July. Plans for champion English Channel   (Smart Strike  —Belva, by Theatrical) will be determined. He is owned by Kelley and James Scatuorchio. English Channel’s first foals arrived this year.

Artie Schiller and Bellamy Road are both grade I winners. Their first foals are yearlings. Teuflesberg is a grade II winner. His first foals arrived this year.

Walden also announced that the 24-strong yearling crop owned by Walden and partners arrived May 30 at Pauls Mill.
