Pico Central Notches First Winner Pico Central, who now stands in Korea, notched his first winner June 19 when the 2-year-old filly Marquet Madness won the sixth race at Monmouth Park by seven lengths in her first start (VIDEO). The Florida-bred filly is a homebred for Patricia Generazio and is trained by Mary Hartmann. She is out of the Marquetry mare To Marquet. Pico Central, a 10-year-old son of Spend a Buck out of the Purple Mountain mare Sheila Purple, stood at Satish and Anne Sanan's Padua Stables near Summerfield, Fla. He was a Horse of the Year in his native Brazil and a finalist for a 2004 Eclipse Award in the sprint division. He sold in late 2007 to the Korean Racing Association for stallion duty at Jeju Stud Farm. Pico Central won three grade I races in 2004 while racing for Gary Tanaka and trained by Paulo Lobo—the Met Mile, Vosburgh Stakes and Carter Handicap.
