(NYRA release)

Jockey Maylan Studart underwent surgery June 18 at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y. to help mend a broken left leg that was the result of an accident earlier in the day at Belmont Park at approximately 9:45.

According to her agent, Jose Henriquez, Studart was injured while at the barn of trainer Rodrigo Ubillo.

"I was on a 2-year-old in the barn and she was walking by," Ubillo confirmed. "She went to pet the horse and he reared up and his leg came down on top of her."

According to North Shore spokesperson Kristen Longo, Studart remains at the hospital and is in stable condition.

Studart, a 20-year-old Brazilian, began riding at Aqueduct last fall. She was named to ride three horses at Belmont Park June 18, including fifth-race winner Chernobyl’s Hero ($2.90).
