Classic winner Editor's Note gained his first winner from his 13th starter when Overbrook Farm's Short Note won a maiden claiming race Monday at Delaware Park.
Short Note, a 2-year-old filly out of the Seattle Slew mare Annual Report, won the five-furlong event by a head in 1:00.82 for trainer D. Wayne Lukas.
Editor's Note, an 8-year-old son of champion Forty Niner out of Beware of the Cat (by Caveat) stands for $10,000 at William T. Young's Overbrook Farm near Lexington. Short Note is one of 66 foals in Editor's Note's first crop.
Winner of the 1996 Belmont Stakes (gr. I), Editor's Note won six of 31 career starts and placed seven times for $1,601,394 in earnings while racing for Overbrook.
