Pioneering , a half-brother to two-time leading sire Storm Cat, might be headed to Brazil to continue his stallion career. The 16-year-old son of Mr. Prospector currently stands for $3,500 at the Young family’s Overbrook Farm near Lexington. According to Overbrook’s Ric Waldman, the farm has entered an agreement to sell Pioneering.
If the deal goes through, Pioneering will stand for a group of breeders at Haras Castelo near Bage, as reported in the Brazilian publication Raia Leve.
Pioneering has sired 31 stakes winners, including grade I winner Behaving Badly. Out of the grade II stakes-winning Secretariat mare Terlingua, Pioneering also is a half-brother to grade II winner Chapel of Dreams.
