Dogwood Stable, which paid $485,000 for Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird’s half-brother by Yonaguska at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2-year-old sale, has named the colt Brother Bird.
According to a Dogwood spokesperson, the colt, out of the Smart Strike mare Mining My Own, was purchased on a Monday and all shares were sold out by Friday.

Brother Bird had been purchased earlier in the year at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s March 2-year-old sale for $100,000 by Paul Saylor, who entered the colt in the Midlantic sale at Timonium following Mine That Bird’s Kentucky Derby victory.
