Horse of the Year Tiznow, posted a sharp workout Friday.
From Del Mar Turf ClubTiznow clocked a sharp :48.60 for four furlongs Friday morning over Del Mar's main track in his preparation that trainer Jay Robbins hopes will lead to a run in the Del Mar Breeders' Cup Handicap at a mile on Sunday, September 2.
"I liked the work and Chris liked it, too," Robbins said, referring to regular rider Chris McCarron, who was aboard for the breeze. "Chris said he felt perfect again."
The Bob Baffert-trained Officer, who is the likely favorite for Wednesday's Graduation Stakes for 2-year-old California-breds, also turned in a good drill. Officer, with regular exercise and work rider Dana Barnes in the irons, stopped clockers' watches in 1:00.40 for five furlongs. It was noted, also, that he galloped out very strongly.
Officer worked with stablemate High Thunder, starting about four lengths behind his work mate and finishing a good three lengths ahead.
Other works of interest - all on the main track - included: four furlongs, Dixie Dot Com, :48.40; Forest Camp, :47.00; five furlongs, Crafty C.T., :59.40; and six furlongs, Palmeiro, 1:13.40.
