An Orientate   colt worked a quarter mile in :21 2/5, which was the fastest time for the distance, during the May 13 first session of the under tack show for the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale of 2-year-olds in training in Timonium, Md.

Consigned by Kip Elser’s Kirkwood Stables, agent, the bay colt is out of the 14-year-old winning Dixieland Band mare L’Abidjanaise and is a half-brother to the winner Thou Swell (by Aptitude), who finished second in the 2008 National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes (gr. II). Bred in Kentucky by Robert B. Trussell Jr., the colt was a $19,000 buy-back when consigned by Four Stars Sales, agent, to the 2008 Keeneland September yearling auction.

Eight horses each posted the quickest time of :10 1/5 at an eighth of a mile. They included a Eurosilver – Scope filly, consigned by Old South Farm; a Tapit   – Shopping colt named Tashop, consigned by Cary Frommer, agent for the Hobeau Farm dispersal; a Forest Danger – Spa Romance colt, consigned by James Layden, agent; and a D'wildcat   – Sweet But Nasty colt,  consigned by Leprechaun Racing, agent.  The others were a Freud   – True Legend filly, consigned by Eisaman Equine, agent; an Exchange Rate   – With Precision filly named Copy Me, consigned by M & H Training and Sales, agent; a Woke Up Dreamin – Crafty Gold colt, consigned by Rod McVey, agent; and a Tale of the Cat   – Daimon colt named Daimon’s Tale, consigned by Cary Frommer, agent for the Hobeau Farm dispersal.

One juvenile, a Wildcat Heir   – Brightest Future filly, worked three furlongs, turning in a time of :34 1/5. Leprechaun Racing, agent, is her consignor. The only 2-year-old to work a half mile was an Aldebaran—With My Blessings filly that covered the distance in :46 3/5.

The Yonaguska half-brother to Kentucky Derby Presented By Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner and Preakness Stakes (gr. I) entrant Mine That Bird galloped, according to information released by Fasig-Tipton officials. The colt is consigned by Frommer, who is the agent for Paul Saylor.

The second session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale’s under tack show is scheduled for May 14, beginning at 10 a.m. (EDT). The auction will be held May 18 and 19, with each session starting at 10 a.m.
