Circle E Racing’s Mr. Sidney, winner of the Maker’s Mark Mile (gr. IT), will make his next start in the Shadwell Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I) May 25, owner Lee Einsidler said May 11.
The 5-year-old son of Storm Cat, out of Tomisue’s Delight, a $3.9 million yearling purchase, has made eight starts in his career, winning four, with a second and a third.
The decision was finalized after Mr. Sidney worked a half mile in :47 4/5 on dirt at Belmont May 11 under regular rider Kent Desormeaux, galloping out in :59 and change and pulling up six furlongs in 1:14.
“He did it under wraps in company,” Einsidler said. “
Einsidler said the decision to run in the Met Mile was made by trainer Bill Mott.
“Bill said there’s no risk involved; he’s a grade I winner on grass and there are more grade Is in his future,” Einsidler said. “He said it’s time to stamp him as a stallion prospect.”
