Tale of Ekati, winner last year of the Wood Memorial Stakes (gr. I), has been sent to John Phillips' Darby Dan Farm near Lexington.

The 4-year-old colt, by Tale of the Cat  —Silence Beauty, by Sunday Silence, has not hit the board in his last three starts.

Bred and owned by Charles Fipke, Tale of Ekati won five of 15 starts and earned $1,182,992. He won the Futurity Stakes (gr. II) at 2 and the Wood, Hill ‘n’ Dale Cigar Mile Handicap (gr. I) via disqualification, and Jerome Handicap (gr. II) at 3.

"Mr. Fipke decided to send him here," Phillips said. "His future will be determined later."

For trainer Barclay Tagg, Tale of Ekati made three starts this year, finishing fourth in the Richter Scale (gr. II) before finishing a dull eighth in the Carter Handicap (gr. I) and sixth in his last start, the Westchester Handicap (gr. III) in April.

Fipke boards his mares and stands Perfect Soul  at Darby Dan.
