Graded stakes winner Twilight Meteor has been retired from racing for stallion duty.
Campaigned by John Fort’s Peachtree Stable, Twilight Meteor won or placed in 11 of 17 races and earned $575,291 while trained by Todd Pletcher. In his final start, the 5-year-old son of Smart Strike captured the Canadian Turf Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Gulfstream Park in February.
Twilight Meteor won the Woodford Reserve Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland at 2 and the Hallandale Beach Stakes on grass at Gulfstream at 3. His six career stakes-placings included a runner-up effort in the Canadian classic Breeders’ Stakes on turf and placings in four graded turf stakes in the United States.
Bred in Ontario, Canada, by Kinghaven Farms Limited, Twilight Meteor is out of the With Approvalmare One Over Prime, a half-sister to Canadian champions Poetically and Primaly and to U.S. grade I winner Citronnade and grade III winner Whiskey Wisdom.
Breeding plans will be announced later.
