Mr. Hot Stuff broke his maiden just this past Feb. 1 at Santa Anita.

WinStar Farm’s Mr. Hot Stuff, third in the Santa Anita Derby (gr. I), had a West Coast  tuneup for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) when he worked five furlongs in 1:00 2/5 at Santa Anita April 26.

The son of two-time Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I) winner Tiznow  , who stands at WinStar, is trained by Eion Harty. From seven starts, Mr. Hot Stuff has but one win to his credit, breaking his maiden in his fifth start. He has subsequently finished third twice —  in the grade III Sham and Santa Anita Derby while increasing his bankroll to $150,560.

Bred by WinStar, Mr. Hot Stuff is out of the Turkoman mare Sweet Damsel, making him a full brother to last year's Santa Anita Derby and Travers (gr. I) winner Colonel John  .

Mr. Hot Stuff is one of three possible Derby participants for WinStar, which also campaigns Hold Me Back   and Advice.
