Fusaichi Pegasus , who won the Derby in 2000, was the first favorite to capture the race since Spectacular Bid in 1979. Fusaichi Pegasus, or “Fu Peg” as he is commonly known as, is a “shuttle” stallion for Ashford, standing the Northern Hemisphere season at Ashford Stud near Versailles, Ky., and the Southern Hemisphere season at Coolmore Australia.
