Balance, a grade I winner and half-sister to unbeaten champion Zenyatta, foaled her first offspring, an A.P. Indy colt, Jan. 18. Bred by Jerry Amerman, the colt and his dam are boarded at Mill Ridge Farm near Lexington.

Balance raced for Amerman and her husband, John, in the name Amerman Racing Stables. Balance won three grade I stakes and earned $1,048,491. Her grade I scores came in the Santa Anita Oaks and Las Virgenes Stakes at 3 and the Santa Margarita Invitational Handicap at 4.

By Thunder Gulch, 6-year-old Balance is in foal to Zenyatta’s sire, Street Cry. Zenyatta was voted 2008 champion older female.

Bred in Kentucky by Maverick Productions, Balance is out of the Kris S. mare Vertigineux.

Mill Ridge is owned by Alice Chandler and her husband, Dr. John Chandler.
