Stakes winner Special Rate sired his first winner from his initial starter when his son Valid Heart won April 11 at Manor Downs. Bred in Texas by Keith Asmussen, Special Rate captured the 4 1/2-furlong race by a head in :52.94 for Asmussen and his son, Cash, who trains the colt.
Valid Heart is the sixth winner from the winning Valid Appeal mare Valid Obsession.
