Came Home Rolls to Four-Length Win in Hollywood Juvenile

Came Home set brisk fractions under Chris McCarron and drew away to a four-length win in Sunday's $107,400 Hollywood Juvenile Championship Stakes (gr. III) at Hollywood Park. The win for the John A. Toffan and Trudy McCaffery homebred comes on the heels of an eight-length win in a maiden race at the same track last month.

Came Home led the field Tim's Talent by a half-length after an opening quarter-mile run in :21.90 then dispatched of that rival while holding Metatron at bay, completing the six furlongs in 1:09.20 on a fast track. Came Home's five-furlong fractional time of :56.78 eclipsed the final time (:57.53) of his maiden win by nearly a second.

Metatron finished second, 7 1/2 lengths clear of A Major Pleasure. Tracemark, Tim's Talent, and Phoney Gold completed the order of finish.

Came Home (Gone West--Nice Assay, by Clever Trick) has won both his starts for trainer Paco Gonazalez and earned $64,440 for Sunday's win.

The 3-10 favorite, Came Home returned $2.60, $2.20, and $2.10. Metatron paid $3.20 and $2.10. A Major Pleasure, who closed from last after the opening quarter-mile, paid $2.10 to show. The $1 exacta returned $4.20. (Chart, Equibase)
