Sky Mesa  , who underwent two colic-related surgeries in mid-February, returned to the breeding shed April 6 at Robert N. Clay’s Three Chimneys Farm near Midway, Ky. Nine-year-old Sky Mesa covered one mare prior to his initial surgery Feb. 15.

Sky Mesa is scheduled to cover two mares a day, but can accommodate three. His fee remains $30,000.

A grade I winner, Sky Mesa (Pulpit  --Caress, by Storm Cat) ranks second on the third-crop sires list by progeny earnings this year. He has sired a career total of eight stakes winners, including graded winners Beethoven, General Quarters, Sky Diva, Skylighter, Storm Mesa, and Terrain.
