Vallenzeri (hip #22, A. P. Indy - Azeri) on track at Keeneland.

Vallenzeri set a world Thoroughbred auction record last year as a $7.7-million buy-back at the Keeneland September yearling sale. He’s back at Keeneland trying to find a new home again, this time as Hip No. 22 in the April sale of 2-year-olds in training.

A chestnut son of Horses of the Year A. P. Indy and Azeri, Vallenzeri turned in a solid effort during the Keeneland juvenile auction’s under tack show April 2, working an eighth of a mile in :10 1/5. The fastest time at that distance for the day was :9 4/5.

Vallenzeri, who is in Eddie Woods’ consignment, was bred in Kentucky by The Allen E. Paulson Living Trust. Azeri, who also is owned by the trust, was a $4.4-million buy-back at the 2009 Keeneland January horses of all ages sale while carrying a foal by Horse of the Year Ghostzapper  .

The Keeneland juvenile auction will be held in Lexington April 6 and 7, with each session beginning at 7 p.m. (EDT). Vallenzeri is scheduled to be offered on the opening night.
