(Edited Magic Millions press release)

The inaugural Magic Millions QTIS 600 yearling sale ended its two-day run March 30 in Australia with a gross of Aust$6,135,500 (approximately $4,261,166 in U.S. funds) for the 333 horses sold. The average price was Aust$18,424 ($12,796), and the clearance rate was 81%.

The top-selling horse during the final session was a Falvelon colt that brought Aust$105,000 ($72,924) from New Zealand-based agent Paul Willetts. Consigned by Lyndhurst Stud Farm, as agent, the colt is the fourth foal out of the Just Awesome mare Cantantes.

"The value shoppers were back in force at the complex today," said Magic Millions managing director David Chester. "Never before have they been able to buy yearlings at such competitive prices. A number of sales this year have found it hard work clearing horses at the bottom of the market, this certainly wasn't the case here this week. We had a wonderful buying bench on hand -- with people from right around the state --particularly many returning visitors from the country areas."
