(Edited Magic Millions press release)

A Lion Heart – Sparkling Success colt topped the opening session of the inaugural Magic Millions QTIS 600 yearling sale on Ausrtalia’s Gold Coast March 29. Len Wheeler purchased the colt for Aust$130,000 (approximately $90,302 in U.S. funds) from Lyndhurst Stud, agent.

"The sale was very strong at the bottom end, an area where a number of sales have struggled this year,” said Magic Millions managing director David Chester. "It did seem a bit tougher toward the top end of the sale, as many buyers had already been active at our other sales around the country already this year. There was a really tremendous crowd on hand. It was great to see so many country people and a lot of faces we haven't seen for many years were back. It's been a really good success so far considering the current economic conditions and the lower trends around the world in the bloodstock industry.”

In all, 162 horses were sold for a gross of Aust$2,743,000 ($1,905,370) and an average price of Aust$16,932 ($11,762). The clearance rate was 78%.
