Empire Stud near Hudson, N.Y., has announced a stud fee reduction of 50% and more for the 2009 breeding season to grade I winner Midas Eyes. The 9-year-old stallion’s $6,000 advertised fee will now be $3,000 live foal stand and nurse and $2,000 live foal stand and nurse to returning breeders and/or multiple mare packages. In addition, Empire is offering the following Select State Breeders’ Program.

The Midas Eyes Syndicate will offer for the 2009 breeding season one-time complimentary no-guarantee seasons to approved mares foaling in approved state-bred programs. In consideration, the Midas Eyes Syndicate will be named co-breeder and will receive 50% of all breeders’ awards earned by the resulting foal.

Midas Eyes (Touch Gold  --Bayou Plans, by Bayou Hebert) stands as the property of Mill Ridge Farm.

“Midas Eyes has always been about speed and class,” said Empire Stud president Jamie LaMonica. “He was a sprinter/miler at the highest level, and his half-brother just topped the Fasig-Tipton Calder (2-year-old) sale at $1.6 million.”
