Dream Supreme Leads Field in Princess Rooney

Dream Supreme, who was widely regarded as the nation's best sprint filly as a 3-year-old last year, leads the nine-horse field for Saturday's $400,000 Princess Rooney Handicap (gr. III) at Calder Race Course.

The George Steinbrenner homebred daughter of Seeking the Gold enters the race with grade II victories at Aqueduct and Churchill Downs this season. Dream Supreme finished second last out in the Vagrancy Handicap (gr. III) at Belmont when she got caught in a speed duel on the rail. Jockey Pat Day won the Princess Rooney last year aboard Hurricane Bertie and will be a short-priced favorite on Dream Supreme.

Bertram, Elaine and Richard Klein's 4-year-old filly Hidden Assets is the second choice under jockey Jorge Chavez. She defeated Dream Supreme in the Shirley Jones Handicap (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park in mid-February. Bernie Flint trains Hidden Assets for the Klein's whose Hurricane Bertie won the event last year and the same owner-trainer team won the Azalea Breeders' Cup (gr. III) as well with Swept Away.

The field for the Princess Rooney includes: Penny Blues (Eduardo Nunez, 15-1); Dream Supreme (Day, 6-5); Precious Feather (Rosemary Homeister, Jr., 6-1); Sugar N Spice (Cornelio Velasquez, 20-1); Hidden Assets (Chavez, 3-1); Wired to Fly (Mark Guidry, 20-1); Vague Memory (Willie Martinez, 20-1); Dynamite Diablo (Aurelio Toribio, Jr., 10-1); and Tugger (Aaron Gryder, 6-1).
