The Edwin Gregson Foundation will honor Thoroughbred owner Mike Pegram and his wife, Mary Ellen, at a dinner at the Twin Palms Restaurant in Pasadena, Calif., Monday, April 13.

The personable Pegram, known for being one of the friendliest and fun-loving horsemen in the sport, has campaigned dual classic winner and 1998 3-year-old champion male Real Quiet; dual champion Silverbulletday, who is one of this year’s nominees to racing’s Hall of Fame; and additional grade I winners Captain Steve; Hookedonthefeelin; Pussycat Doll; and, in partnership, champion Midnight Lute.

Gregson, the late California-based trainer, is best known for winning the 1982 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) with Gato Del Sol. The foundation named for him, among other things, provides college scholarships to children of backstretch workers.
