Secret Status, an allowance winner at Keeneland in her first start after a layoff, is slated to contest the July 22 Delaware Handicap (gr. III) at Delaware Park. The 4-year-old is scheduled to ship from Churchill Downs to Delaware Park the week of July 16. Trainer Neil Howard said he plans to work the filly over the track before the race.

Secret Status did not race from early September through early April. Of her seven victories, the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) and the Mother Goose (gr.), have been her richest to date, helping to bring her bankroll to $1,008,105. She races as a homebred for W.S. Farish, James Elkins, and W. Temple Webber Jr.

Secret Status, a daughter of A.P. Indy and the Alydar mare Private Status, has never won at a distance further than nine furlongs, but Howard said he thinks the 10-furlong handicap will suit her just fine. "Of course you never really know until they have done it, but I feel confident she will be able to handle the distance," he said. "Her running style and pedigree are indicative of a horse who should get the mile and a quarter." Nominations for the $600,000 race close Wednesday.
