Howard Belvoir’s 2008 Longacres Mile Handicap (gr. III) winner Wasserman took home honors as Washington horse of the year, champion handicap male, and sprinter at the Washington Thoroughbred Champions Breeders and Owners Annual Awards Banquet held at Emerald Downs Feb. 14.
Not only did Howard Belvoir train the versatile champion through a 2008 campaign in which he won four stakes, but the Kent-based conditioner also bred and owns the 7-year-old gelding by Cahill Road—Share the Knight, by Knights Choice.
Wasserman, who was named to honor Seattle oncologist Dr. Peter Wasserman, has now accumulated in earnings $442,149. Belvoir was also honored with a special training achievement award.
