Thoroughbred horsewomen Caroline Dodwell of Texas and Carole Ann Rio of Florida had entries in the recent Westminster Kennel Club dog show in New York that took Best of Breed honors.

Dodwell’s winning dog was a Norwich Terrier named “Poker” (Ch Skyscot’s Poker Chip). He also finished third in the Terrier group competition. Dodwell and her husband Ed operated Diamond D Ranch near Lone Oak, Texas.

“In the last six months, Poker has really come into his own,” Caroline Dodwell said. “It was unbelievable when he finished third in group.”

Rio is the breeder and co-owner of “Hamlet” (Ch Classic’s To Be Or Not To Be) that was judged the show’s top Boston Terrier. Rio buys and sells horses in the Ocala, Fla., area.

The show was held Feb. 9 and 10.
