John Atto have been elected to The Jockey Club of Canada. Werner lives in Rapid City, Ill., and owns the Golden Seed Company. He has owned Thoroughbreds for more than 13 years. Atto lives in Toronto and is president of Atto Insurance which sponsors the $1 million Atto Mile, a grade 1 race at Woodbine Racetrack...
Dan Smith will vacate his post as director of marketing for Del Mar after this season. However, the racetrack will not lose his services entirely--Smith, who has worked at Del Mar since 1964, will continue to hold the position of director of media. Those responsibilities will keep him on track from May to September.
Craig Dado, the current vice president in charge of marketing at Santa Anita, will assume Smith's marketing role...The National Museum of Racing will host
The Legend of Seabiscuit display beginning July 22. Artifacts, photographs, radio broadcasts, and news coverage of the horse, his connections, and his campaign, are included in the exhibit.
