The 2009 Thoroughbred Political Action Committee Stallion Season Auction held by the New York Thoroughbred Breeders is under way and wraps up at 8 p.m. EST Feb. 12.

Tom Gallo of Tom Gallo Sales Agency and Parting Glass Racing said the auction is an important part of the effort to advance the interests of New York breeders. THOROPAC supports the election campaigns of state-level candidates who support NYTB goals.

A primary goal of the NYTB is to protect the New York Breeding and Development Fund, which contributes more than $14 million in Thoroughbred breeder and owner awards each year.

“We’ve got some real nice seasons, and it’s for a great cause,” Gallo said. “This really boosts our (political action committee).

The auction is being conducted at starquine.com, where all bidders must register. A link also is available at nytbreeders.org. Seasons to about 50 stallions are being offered.
