Jockey Jake Barton earned the 2,000th win of his career when he brought favored Song of Pirates from off the pace to win the third race at Turf Paradise Jan. 20.
The 42-year-old rider started his career in 1985 in New Mexico before moving to Turf Paradise. A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Barton has also ridden in Canada and Northern California on a regular basis.
Barton's career includes graded victories aboard Honor the Hero in the 1995 Phoenix Gold Cup Handicap (gr. III) at Turf Paradise and on Early Wisdom in the 2002 Colonel R.S. McLaughlin Handicap (Can-III) at Woodbine.
