Three Graded Stakes Highlight Hollywood Park's Saturday

Out Of Mind and Freedom Crest, who both went to the sidelines not long after scoring their first graded stakes victories, return to action Saturday in Hollywood Park's 32nd running of the $100,000 Bel Air Handicap (gr. II) at 1 1/16 miles.

A tendon injury took Out of Mind, a 6 year old Brazilian-bred trained by Richard Mandella, out of racing following last year's Hollywood Gold Cup. He came into the Gold Cup having just beaten Early Pioneer and Skimming in the Mervyn LeRoy (gr. II). He is reunited with jockey Eddie Delahoussaye in the Bel Air and will be the starting high weight at 118 pounds.

Freedom Crest bled while racing in the San Antonio Handicap in February. The setback ended a three-race winning streak for the 5-year-old gelding trained by former Mandella assistant Richard Baltas. Jockey Gary Stevens will be in the irons when Freedom Quest, carrying 117 pounds, joins the field of seven entered for the Bel Air--one of three graded stakes on the Hollywood Park card.

The complete field for the Bel Air Handicap, in post position order with jockeys and weights:
