The $100,000-added Debutante Stakes at Churchill Downs has seemed to be little more than coronations for heavy favorites such as eventual juvenile filly champion Silverbulletday and multiple stakes winners Chilukki and Gold Mover. But that's not the case for Saturday's five-furlong race, which has attracted a wide-open field of eight with no clear-cut favorite.

One to watch will be Colonial Glitter, who has one win in two career starts for 3rd Turn Stable, a partnership headed by majority owner and former National Football League star Will Wolford, and trainer Paul J. McGee.

Colonial Glitter scored a two-length victory under jockey Pat Day in a five-furlong race on June 10. In her debut on May 20, she finished third to Ghost Wrestling, who finished second in the Fashion Stakes at Belmont Park in her next race.

Another is Cashier's Dream, a Michigan-bred daughter of Service Stripe who is unbeaten in two starts. She opened her career with a win in a $50,000 claiming race and returned with a head-turning three-length romp in a June 10 allowance race.

She was purchased from owner-trainer-breeder James Jackson after her second victory by the partnership of Team Valor and William Heiligbrodt. The filly, whose purchase price was not disclosed, was immediately turned over to a new trainer in Steve Asmussen.

The field for the Debutante Stakes, in order of post position, is as follows: Twin Sails (Jon Court, 115); Yes Honey, (Calvin Borel, 115); War Dress, (Remi Gunn, 115); Gone Bye Bye, (Justin Vitek, 112); Joanies Bella, (Tom Molina, 112); Cashier's Dream (Donnie Meche, 118); Lakeside Cup, (Lonnie Meche, 115); and Colonial Glitter, (Pat Day, 115).
