Chocolate Candy won the 2008 Real Quiet Stakes at Hollywood Park.

Chocolate Candy, who ran third in the CashCall Futurity (gr. I) at Hollywood Park last month, is among the horses already confirmed for the $100,000 California Derby at Golden Gate Fields Jan. 17.

Northern California's first major race for 3-year-olds who have aspirations for the Triple Crown trail, the California Derby will be contested at 1 1/16 miles. Entries will be taken on the morning of Jan. 14.

Chocolate Candy, a Kentucky-bred colt by Candy Ride, won the $100,000 Real Quiet Stakes at Hollywood Park prior to running third in the $750,000 CashCall Futurity Dec. 20. Chocolate Candy was beaten by 1 1/2 lengths by the victorious Pioneerof the Nile.

Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer and owned by The Craig Family Trust, the bay colt has two wins, a second and a third in six career starts and $202,500 in earnings.

Adriatic Moon, Axel Foley, and Merus Miami are also listed as definite starters in the California Derby. Gallant Son is probable for the race while Frumious is a possible starter.
