Niagara Causeway, a graded stakes-winning son of Giant’s Causeway, will stand at Doug Arnold’s Buck Pond Farm near Versailles, Ky., for a fee of $3,000. He is owned by Glenda Perryman’s La Bahia Stud.
Six-year-old Niagara Causeway raced for La Bahia after the outfit bought him for $230,932 at the 2004 Tattersalls October yearling sale from Castlemartin Stud, agent. He was bred in Kentucky by Bronwyn Maddocks, Andrew Harcourt, and Skymarc Farm.
In 2008, Niagara Causeway established a track record in winning the 1 1/2-mile Tokyo City Handicap (gr. III) at Santa Anita. Two years earlier, he ran second in the Cinema Breeders’ Cup Handicap (gr. IIIT). He retired with wins or placings in nine of 20 races and earnings of $255,567.
Niagara Causeway is the first foal from Irish champion 3-year-old filly miler Theoretically (by Theatrical), who was a group winner at 2 in Ireland and twice grade I stakes-placed in the United States. Theoretically is a half-sister to French group I winner Cudas.
