Kandaly, winner of the 1994 Louisiana Derby (gr. III), will return to Louisiana to stand in 2009 at Jack Hebert’s All Star Thoroughbreds near Sulphur. He will stand for an introductory fee of $1,000.
Owned by Mrs. Carlton Cole, 18-year-old Kandaly is by Alydar out of the Rugged Man mare Kanduit.
Kandaly was represented in 2008 by grade II stakes-placed Initforthekandy, who has earned a career total of $266,851. Initforthekandy ran second in the Fleur de Lis Handicap (gr. II) at Churchill Downs. Kandaly also is the sire of additional six-figure earner K P’s Kandy and eight-time winner Sweet Evil Hariet.
Kandaly, who started his career with three wins from four starts at Fair Grounds, placed in the Pennsylvania Derby (gr. II) and Round Table Stakes (gr. III) the same year he captured the Louisiana Derby.
