Jockey Injured; Horse Euthanized at PM

Joe Crispin, who has been the leading rider at Portland Meadows the past two seasons, will be out for an estimated six to eight weeks with a cracked hip. He sustained the injury in the track’s third race Dec. 29 when his mount, Dynamite Ollie, clipped heels and fell. 

“The doctors told him last night he’d be out probably eight weeks,” said Crispin’s agent Mike Delnick. “They told him when he hurt his wrist it would be four months and he was back riding in eight weeks. He thinks he’ll be ready this time in a month.” 

Crispin will now miss the upcoming Golden Gate vs. Portland Meadows Jockey Challenge brought to you by XpressBet Jan. 7. Details will be forthcoming about who will take his spot on Team Portland Meadows. 

Crispin’s mount Dynamite Ollie suffered a life threatening leg injury and was euthanized.
