Churchill Downs Inc. for the first time has hired a marketing and communications company to promote the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), it was announced Dec. 16.
Cramer-Krasselt, which is described as the third-largest independent marketing and communications agency in the United States, will partner with CDI to develop brand identity and communications strategy for the Derby and Oaks, according to a press release.
CDI in a statement said Cramer-Krasselt, which has annual billings of $1 billion, is the first national firm hired to specifically focus on the Derby and Oaks brands. Cramer-Krasselt will help the racetrack company enhance licensing and corporate partnerships, and reach out to media representatives around the world, the release said.
Cramer-Krasselt is headquartered in Chicago, with offices in New York, Milwaukee, and Phoenix. The New York office will handle the effort, which includes an emphasis on public relations as well as integrated marketing and promotions.
