Group I-winning stallion Reel Buddy has been sold to Greece in a private deal brokered by Ed Sackville of Kern Lillingston. Reel Buddy’s stallion duties will be primarily covering the mares owned by international shipping magnate John Chandris at his breeding operation in Greece. The stallion will be relocated from Bearstone Stud in Shropshire, England.
Reel Buddy, a son of Gainesway’s Mr. Greeley (USA), has been standing in England since 2004. His stud fee for 2009 was reported to be £3,000 (US$4,520). Reel Buddy’s first crop of racehorses are now 3 years old. His most accomplished runner to date is British-bred Reel Gift, who was second in the 2007 Princess Margaret Independent Newspaper Stakes at Ascot.
"Reel Buddy was a tough and consistent group I winner who acted on firm ground, taking this into account one would hope his progeny should be suited to the racing conditions in Greece," said Sackville.
