Danehill, the first shuttle stallion to sire 100 stakes winners, became the first one to reach 150 stakes winners. The recent milestone came when his 2-year-old son Rock of Gibraltar won the July 1 Anheuser Busch Railway Stakes (Ire-III).

As impressive as 150 sounds, it pales compared to what Danehill accomplished over the last two years. The 15-year-old son of Danzig reached stakes winner No. 100 in July of 1999, thus his last 50 added-money winners came in the last two years.

Danehill's total is due to his extraordinary prowess as a stallion and the fact that he serves double duty. He stands at Coolmore Stud in Ireland and at Coolmore in Australia. He stood one Northern Hemisphere season in Japan.

Danehill, who was produced from the His Majesty mare Razyana, trails Mr. Prospector (with 175 stakes winners), fellow Coolmore stallion Sadler's Wells (173 stakes winners), and Danzig (158 stakes winners).
