Marcavelly, a two-time graded stakes winner, will enter stud at John Burness’ Colebrook Farms Stallion Station near Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada, for a fee of $5,000 (Canadian funds).
A 4-year-old son of Johannesburg, Marcavelly finished first or second in seven of eight races and earned $332,963 for Zayat Stables while trained by Bill Mott. He won three stakes, including the Central Bank Transylvania (gr. IIIT) and Hill Prince (gr. IIIT) Stakes, the latter in stakes-record time of 1:33.45 for a mile at Belmont Park.
“We are firm believers in the Canadian program and where it is heading,” Ahmed Zayat said. “He offers a lot to the Canadian breeder with turf and polytrack form, class, and pedigree.”
Bred in Kentucky by Harrison Stables, Marcavelly is out of the Majestic Light mare Dark Jewel, a full sister to grade I winners Prince True and Hidden Light. The latter is the dam of NetJets Breeders’ Cup Mile (gr. IT) winner Artie Schiller.
