Puglisi Racing and Woodfield Racing’s Livin Lovin, runaway winner of the Tempted Stakes (gr. III) at Aqueduct last out, will face a full field of 2-year-old fillies Dec. 5, including morning-line favorite C.S. Silk, in the $500,000 Boyd’s Gaming Delta Princess Powered by Youbet.com Stakes (gr. III).
Also worthy of serious consideration in Delta Downs' one-mile main track event is Cindy Jones’ Just Jenda, a daughter of Menifee who won her first two starts in convincing fashion, and Heiligbrodt Racing’s Four Gifts, an impressive allowance winner last month at Churchill Downs. Ten fillies are entered for the Princess, which is race 6 on the program, two races prior to the $750,000 Delta Jackpot (gr. III) for 2-year-olds. The entire Delta card will be shown live on HRTV.
A daughter of Birdstone--Nurse Margaret, by Captain Bodgit, Livin Lovin stalked the early pace and drew away in the stretch to take the one-mile Tempted by 4 1/4 lengths Nov. 2 under Ramon Dominguez. The Steve Klesaris trainee missed by just a half-length in her stakes debut a month earlier on the Woodbine Polytrack when finishing second to Van Lear Rose in the 1 1/16-mile Mazarine Stakes (Can-III).
Bred in Kentucky by David Soblick, Livin Lovin broke her maiden at second asking at Delaware Park by eight lengths in September. Dominguez flies in for the mount on the 5-2 morning-line second choice, who fired a three-furlong bullet work in :35.20 at Fair Grounds Dec. 1 .
Morning-line favoritism was bestowed upon William Pacella, George Bonomo, and Fred Barbara’s C.S. Silk, who broke her maiden by 6 1/4 lengths at Churchill this summer and took the Arlington-Washington Lassie (gr. III) by six more lengths on the Polytrack.
Trained by Dale Romans, C.S. Silk set the pace through six furlongs in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) at Santa Anita Oct. 24, but faded to finish seventh under Robby Albarado. The daughter of Medaglia d'Orohas fired a pair of bullet works at Churchill in preparation for the race. Albarado will get the return call on C.S. Silk (2-1).
Just Jenda, trained by Larry Jones, scored by nearly seven lengths in her debut at Philadelphia Park Sept. 20. A little more than a month later, the chestnut filly romped by nine lengths in the Brandywine Stakes, a six- furlong event in the Philly Park slop. Jones has been working Just Jenda at Fair Grounds. She will break from the rail under Terry Thompson.
Four Gifts, by Even the Score, had a victory in three starts on Polytrack before trainer Steve Asmussen raced her on dirt last out. The gray or roan filly responded with authority by drawing off for a 3 1/4-length win in allowance company at Churchill Nov. 1. The $125,000 yearling will be ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan.
