Gainesway has lowered the 2009 stud fee for Mr. Greeleyfrom $100,000 to $75,000, payable when a live foal stands and nurses.

"With a 2008 yearling average of over $246,000 and a covering sire average of over $550,000, Mr. Greeley at $75,000 (live foal) for 2009, provides excellent value for commercial breeders," said Gainesway president Antony Beck.

Gainesway is among several major Central Kentucky farms that have lowered the originally announced fees on marquee stallions.

The demand for Mr. Greeley’s offspring internationally has been good, with 21 yearlings selling for more than $300,000 this year. Among mares sold in foal to Mr. Greeley, 14 brought an average of $550,714, including grade I winner Lady Joanne, who sold for $1.25 million.
