Graded stakes winner Got the Last Laugh has been retired from racing and will stand at McKathan Brothers Farm near Citra, Fla., in 2009. Owned by a partnership, he will stand for $2,500.
In just his second start, Got the Last Laugh dead-heated for first in the 2006 Arlington-Washington Breeders’ Cup Futurity (gr. III), with subsequent champion Street Sense finishing right behind. Got the Last Laugh had won at Saratoga in his first start.
This year, the 4-year-old son of Distorted Humor ran second in the John Henry and Barksdale Stakes. He retired with five wins from 21 starts and earnings of $249,227 for Zayat Stables.
Bred in Kentucky by a partnership that included Brilliant STB and Taylor Made, Got the Last Laugh was produced from the graded stakes-winning Cee’s Tizzy mare Theresa’s Tizzy, who is one of four stakes winners from her stakes-winning dam.
