Ahmed Zayat’s Zayat Stables’ J Be K has been retired from racing and will enter stud in 2009 at the Beck family’s Gainesway Farm near Lexington. His 2009 fee will be $10,000.
“I am pretty excited about it, and I am very happy that he will be standing at Gainesway,” said Zayat. “This is our first horse at stud, and this means a lot to us.”
Zayat said he retained a significant interest in the 3-year-old son of Silver Deputy.
“We plan to breed our best mares to him, and I hope that he will show the same brilliance in the stallion barn that he did on the racetrack,” Zayat said. “He is gorgeous-looking colt, more significantly if you look at his shoulder and look at his engine, he has a gasket like no other. This horse really stands out.”
Bred in Kentucky by Glory Days Breeding, J Be K , who is out of the Valid Wager mare Major Wager, has a career record of 5-1-0 from nine starts and has earned $440,200. Trained by Steve Asmussen, J Be K has stakes wins this year in the Woody Stephens (gr. II) , Bay Shore (gr. III), and Jersey Shore (gr. III) Stakes.
