Florida Stallion Texas Glitter Dies

Texas Glitter, a 12-year-old son of Glitterman, died earlier this week at Signature Thoroughbreds in Reddick, Florida, from compliations due to colic, it was announced Nov. 20.

The multiple graded stakes winner eantered stud at Signature since retiring in 2002. A top sprinter, he won nine stakes races on both dirt and turf, en route to earning $826,077. As a 3-year-old, he won the grade III Spectacular Bid Stakes at Gulfstream Park and became a turf specialist as an older horse.

From three crops to race, Texas Glitter has been represented by 56 winners of more than $1.7 million. Out of the Apalachee mare Come on Texas, Texas Glitter was bred in Florida by Ronald Whiting.
