A young mare by Gold Legend, in foal to Bernstein, was the only lot to bring six figures Nov. 13, another session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale that saw a significant decline in business.

The 5-year-old mare Quick Command, who earned $37,670 on the racetrack, was consigned by Belvedere Farm as agent. She produced her first foal this year, a colt by Touch Gold  , and was sold in foal to Bernsteinon a late April cover.

Quick Command was purchased for $100,000 by E-Stable. The mare’s dam is the stakes-placed Alydar mare Jet Route and her second dam is English champion and champion producer Katies.

During the session, the sale company reported 230 horses sold for $2,993,700, an average of $13,016, and a median of $10,000. Those figures are down 35.2%, 27.1%, and 28.6% from the corresponding session a year ago, when 259 hips were sold for $4,622,200, an average of $17,846, and a median of $14,000.

So far during the November sale, the gross is down 46.2%, from $332,692,100 to $178,869,000. The average has declined 35.7%, from $124,791 to $80,246, and the median has dropped 38%, from $50,000 to $31,000.
