Twelve-year-old stallions Cat Thiefand Delaware Township, both grade I winners, have arrived for stallion duty in 2009 at Mike Jester and Joe Besecker’s Penn Ridge Farms near Harrisburg, Pa.
Cat Thief, winner of the 1999 Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I), has sired 29 stakes horses and the earners of $12.2 million. This year alone, he is represented by 11 stakes horses and the earners of $3.6 million. His 11 career stakes winners include grade II stakes-winning fillies Great Intentions and Regal Engagement.
Cat Thief (Storm Cat--Train Robbery, by Alydar) earned $3,951,012 as a homebred for the late William T. Young’s Overbrook Farm and formerly stood at Overbrook near Lexington. His fee is $6,000.
Delaware Township, a two-time grade I sprint winner, has sired eight stakes horses, including graded stakes winners Electrify and Victorina. His career progeny earnings have reached $5 million and include $1.5 million from this year.
Delaware Township (Notebook--Sunny Mimosa, by Sunny North) earned $996,950. He formerly stood at Land of Believe Farm near Annville, Pa. His fee is $4,000.
