Ashford Announces 2009 Stud Fees

Henrythenavigator will stand for a fee of $65,000 in 2009.
The 2009 stud fees for Ashford Stud stallions were announced Nov. 7, including the fees for their newest additions, Henrythenavigator and Majestic Warrior. There was a decline in fees for many of the stallions at Ashford, a division of Coolmore located near Versailles, Ky.
Henrythenavigator (by Kingmambo), a winner of four consecutive group I races this season and second to Raven’s Pass in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I) Oct. 25 at Santa Anita Park, will stand for a fee of $65,000.
Majestic Warrior (by A.P. Indy), winner of the 2007 Hopeful Stakes (gr. I), will stand for $20,000.
The fee for leading stallion
Giant's Causeway (by
Storm Cat) will remain at $125,000 for 2009. Successful first-crop sire
Lion Heart (by
Tale of the Cat ) will also have the same $20,000 fee as last year.
Among the popular Ashford stallions whose fees have been reduced are 2000 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) winner
Fusaichi Pegasus , who will drop from $45,000 to $30,000 in 2009. Former 2-year-old champion
Johannesburg (by Hennessy) has also been reduced from $65,000 to $35,000.

Dehere, $15,000 ($17,500 in 2008)
Grand Slam, $25,000 ($35,000 in 2008)
Powerscourt, $7,500 (same as 2008)
Van Nistelrooy, $15,000 ($25,000 in 2008).
