Apprentice Jock Falls at Meadowlands

(Edited press release)

Apprentice jockey Maylan Studart was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for x-rays following an accident in the second race at the Meadowlands Nov. 5.

Studart was unseated when her mount, a 6-year-old Wild Event gelding named River Of Dreams, fell after clipping heels with Smart Teenager on the final turn of the claiming event.

New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority EMS reported that Studart, a 19-year-old Brazilian rider, never lost consciousness and was stable en route to the hospital.

Jockey Francisco Maysonett was also unseated from his mount, Smart Teenager, but was cleared to ride.
