Fifth Third Bank announced that William “Bill” Greely has joined its equine department as senior equine adviser.

Greely will be responsible for business development, as well as providing guidance and insight to Fifth Third Bank and equine customers.

Active in the Thoroughbred industry for over 45 years, Greely began working for the Keeneland Association in 1972. He was promoted to president and CEO of Keeneland in 1986, a position he held until 2000.

During his tenure as president, several important construction projects were completed, including a new sales pavilion, the Keeneland Entertainment Center, a multi-million dollar renovation of the grandstands, a new entrance at the intersection of Versailles Road and Man O’War Boulevard, and The Keeneland Shop.

The fourth-floor expansion project was also completed during Greely’s presidency, including 22 corporate boxes, the Phoenix Room, and the Lafayette Room.

Since departing Keeneland, Greely has acted as a racing consultant for businesses and state racing commissions in New Mexico, Ohio, and West Virginia.  He also served as the United States and Canadian East Coast Representative for the Dubai Racing Club from 2001 through 2008.
